Classroom Sketch
The classroom map gives a visual insight into what I would hope my future classroom looks like. I would want to create a safe, lovable, and warm environment in the classroom. The furniture would be placed in a way where each student gets to see everything around them, I can see them, they can see me, reach out for the materials easily, and can get enough light to help them work throughout the day. There would be 5 student tables of 4 students at each, and 1 table of 5 students. The students would be grouped by me and I would change the grouping frequently so that all students can get chance to sit and work next to each other. Bulletin boards and posters will be at multiple locations on the walls of the classroom. Students will work at the literacy and writing stations for reading and writing activities. There are shelves and a book stand where they can pick a book from in the literacy center. They can sit on the floor, which would have a carpet and some pillows or on the sofa in the literacy center (the sofa is supposed to be inside the center but it wound not let me keep it there).
At the writing center, there would be at least 2 desks and 2 chairs. The easel is close by to the writing center and reading center in case the students want to use it to write down new words to just see how it would look if they wrote it down. The technology center is located at the end corner of the room. Students can work over there independently and I have a kidney table close by to watch over the entire work stations while I conduct small groups. The materials and manipulatives are all kept on shelves and storage which are accessible by all students during center time and regular class time. I want both a projector and white board because I believe sometimes children need it to be hand written to see what they are learning. This is especially true when children are learning about handwriting. Having a white board would help students look at the hand movements for letters and numbers.
